Why do we eat chocolate eggs at Easter? In the past, during Lent, between Ash Wednesday and Easter, no meat and no eggs were allowed to be eaten. The eggs laid during that period were painted. And on Easter Sunday, they were finally allowed to feast on delicious eggs again! In the 18th century, Parisian confectioners invented a luxury edition of these eggs, in chocolate! Even the mould of real eggs was used initially!
